Her best friend is the hottest guy in school…

Rourke hasn’t been in the same room with Dallas since she was eight years old. Since moving away from her small hometown nearly a decade ago, she’s had to stay in touch with him online, where the pair has grown closer than ever sharing everything from their favorite sci-fi shows to cute photos of baby animals, to crises that have cropped up in each of their personal lives as they’ve grown up. Now Rourke is suddenly back in town, and while she’s thrilled to be reunited with the boy who has become her dearest friend, she realizes it won’t be easy seeing him in person again every day. Because over the years, Rourke has fallen deeply in love with Dallas…but Dallas isn’t the sort of guy who falls in love.

As the high school’s resident drama heartthrob, Dallas is known for his passionate starring performances. Unfortunately his Romeo act isn’t only confined to the boards. Off-stage he’s so popular with the opposite sex that other guys come to him for advice on how to succeed with girls. Although Rourke knows there’s a lot more to him than the charismatic playboy everyone else sees, she still doubts Dallas could ever be satisfied with only one girl, especially not one as bookish and old-fashioned as herself. She knows the smart thing to do would be to get over Dallas and fall for someone more suitable, or else resign herself to only finding happily-ever-after within the pages of her favorite romance novels.

But if it was hard enough for Rourke to keep from fixating on her charming pal when he was hundreds of miles away, now that she’s living right down the street from him again it seems downright impossible. Especially with Dallas sending her so many strangely mixed messages concerning his own feelings about her…

The Real You eBook Elizabeth Myles

I ust finished the perfect, gorgeous book The Real You. It was so wonderful! The author wrote a book that makes the idea/traditional value of marriage so appealing. The book was so contemporary and the characters so realistic to today's young people that I thought it would be another of the usual YA books where they have sex as if that is the ultimate goal of a love relationship. But she took this sizzling romance to the higher plane of a real love story where the characters were willing to commit to each other in the best, most meaningful way.

It was just so good!! I loved every minute of it. None of it seemed contrived or calculated to a book-writing formula. It was just a really great story with really great characters and it was VERY well-written, which is becoming more and more rare these days. The dialogue and use of technology were fun and spot-on.

I hope to read and buy many more of Elizabeth Myles' books like this in the future. I am especially grateful for this book because I can share it with my teenage daughters as a wholesome example of how exciting and wonderful a relationship can be while still keeping your standards and values. I liked how the characters of Casey and Dallas respected Rourke and treated her the way I hope for my daughters to be treated.

Well, I've already stayed up all night to finish this book so I better end this review--alhough I'm sure I could easily keep gushing about how wonderful this book was!!

The Real You eBook Elizabeth Myles Reviews

While the cover page doesn't look all that inspiring, this was a great story. A very popular theme of best friends falling for each other but for me it never gets old. It's a clean, stand-alone romance suitable for all ages. I recommend it. This was a new author for me and I would read more of her works without hesitation.
There was only one review. I was a bit nervous it would be terrible. I have started and not finished so many books lately that I was nervous to start another. But the writting held my interest and kept me engaged till the end. It is a pretty simple story but really sweet. Give it a try. If you think I am wrong you can curse my name. Happy reading.
At first Rourke's anger issues were acceptable and understandable, but then she started to snap at anyone she talks to and have regular outbursts. At 70% I was just annoyed, and I was pretty reluctant to keep on reading. Not only did she have severe anger issues, she also had poor judgement.

She blamed Dallas for stuff when she was the one who caused it, told herself he wasn't interested and didn't give him a chance when it was so obvious and rejected him numerous times.

She also quarreled with her sister and was stubborn and unresonable, way too childish for her age. Everything else was good, and I would've given it a 4 or 5 if not for this problem.
When I started this book the first couple of chapters made me think it was going to be an awkward book and I was tempted to stop reading after the 'brother/sister' stage kiss, but I'm glad I kept going as it did get better and I did really enjoy it!
When I first read the summary for this book I wasn't sure exactly what I would be getting myself into. But holy wowza! I really loved the interactions between Dallas and Rourke and although it was maddeningly frustrating to see them dancing around each other it was worth it in the end, especially in that epilogue!
Super lame. Took off so slow and I wasn't pleased with the ending. I'm sorry just my own opinion. Thank you
Love, love this story then when she was having the problems with mom drinking and when Dallas mom past and then his father getting sick so much emotions.
